Editorial Guidelines
Last updated: May 16, 2026
MarketingDB is a curated directory. Every listing is reviewed by hand before it goes live. These are the standards we apply so the directory stays useful for the people browsing it.
1. What we accept
- Working products with a live, reachable URL.
- Clear value proposition explained in the tagline and description.
- Real screenshots or logos — no placeholder art.
- A correct category and accurate tags.
2. What we reject
- Sites that exist primarily to host outbound links or affiliate redirects.
- Adult, gambling, deceptive medical, or unlicensed financial content.
- Misleading claims, fake testimonials, or AI-generated content presented as human work without disclosure.
- Domains hosting malware, phishing pages, or active SEO spam.
- Duplicate submissions or low-effort clones of existing tools.
3. How outbound links are labeled
We use the link attributes Google publishes in its spam policies. Specifically:
- Paid / featured listings. rel="sponsored" — we received payment for the placement.
- Badge-verified free listings. rel="sponsored" — the listing requires a reciprocal badge on the listee's site.
- Community posts and user-submitted URLs. rel="ugc nofollow" — these come from end users, not editors.
- Revoked or unverified listings. rel="nofollow" — we no longer endorse the destination.
- Other editorial references. Plain noopener noreferrer — no commercial relationship.
4. Review process
A human editor reviews every submission. Most listings are decided within 24 hours. We may ask for changes before approval (clearer screenshots, more accurate category, better description). Approval is not guaranteed, even for paid submissions; if we reject a paid listing, the payment is refunded.
5. Removal and revocation
We remove listings whose destination site goes down, starts violating these guidelines, removes the MarketingDB badge after badge-verified approval, or receives substantiated abuse reports. Removals are not negotiable; resubmission is allowed after the underlying issue is resolved.
6. Reporting a problem
If you see a listing that breaks these guidelines, email iamanassaif@gmail.com with the listing URL and a short note. We respond within a few business days.
