Directory submissions and launch strategy

Directory submission is the one channel where a brand-new product can compete with an established one, because listings are granted on merit of the submission rather than on existing authority. It is also where most founders waste a weekend: a large share of the lists circulating online include directories that are dead, no-follow everything, or quietly stopped approving submissions years ago. These two guides are the filtered version — one free list you can work through in an afternoon, and one deeper roundup with current DR data and notes on what each site is actually good for. Both are maintained rather than published once.
